Memorisation Techniques:Mnemonic for Electrochemistry-electrodes

  • An Ox, Red Cat
  • Anode- Oxidation, Reduction - Cathode
I always got confused whether oxidation occurs at anode or cathode. With the help of this mnemonic, I never had a problem.

As you can see, the first sentence is much easier to remember and so if you remember that, you can memorize the sequence of Intermediate apes in Human Evolution.
Note: An Cat, Rex Ox is grammatically incorrect(An should be followed by vowel) so you'll notice when you get this wrong.
Imagining the animals helps too :D

Memorisation Techniques:Mnemonic for Taxonomic categories

  • Keep Pots Clean Or Family Gets Sick
  • Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus , Species
As you can see, the first sentence is much easier to remember and so if you remember that, you can memorize the sequence of taxonomic categories from Most General to Least General.
Note: Phylum is replaced by Division in Plants

  • Dryopithecus, Shivapithecus,Ramapithecus,Kenyapithecus,Australiopithecus, homo Habilis, homo Erectus, homo erecutus Erectus, homo erectus pekinensis, homo sapiens Fossilis, homo sapiens Sapiens.
As you can see, the first sentence is much easier to remember and so if you remember that, you can memorize the sequence of Intermediate apes in Human Evolution.
Note: Homo sapiens neandrathalis has been left out on purpose- it is considered that they did not evolve into the present day man but you should remember their name too.

Memorisation Techniques:Mnemonic for Essential Amino Acids

  • Vella TILL PMT (Vella is jobless in hindi :P )
  • Valine, Tryptophan, Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Phenylalanine,Methionine, Threonine
As you can see, the first sentence is much easier to remember and so if you remember that, you can memorize the sequence of essential amino acids for Humans.

Memorisation Techniques :Mnemonic for Kreb's cycle.

mnemonic (with a silent "m"), or mnemonic device, is any learning technique that aids information retention.
It is usually a sentence whose first letters correspond to a particular word of a sequence you need to memorize. Even if you didn't get the definition, the following will clear it out for you:

  • Cricket Club of India is O.K. due to Sachin Sehwag playing at Fine Mid Order
  • Citric acid, Cis aconitic acid, Isocitric acid, Oxalo-succinic acid, alpha Ketoglutaric acid, Succinyl-Co A, Succinic acid, Fumaric acid, Mallic acid and Oxalic acid.

As you can see, the first sentence is much easier to remember and so if you remember that, you can memorize the sequence of intermediate products in Kreb's Cycle/Citric Acid Cycle.

Video Lectures: Physics- Mechanics

Video Lectures from reputed sources are essential to better grasp of the content. Also, Its fun :)
Here's a list of Physics Lectures from Khan Academy
[An immensely famous american organisation whose main aim is to globalise education. It was started by Salman Khan(Not the actor) and is highly praised. They get around half a million views per video]

Physics (Unit Wise)
MECHANICS

  1. Scalars and Vectors
  2. Average Velocity/Speed
  3. Example of velocity related problems:Solving for time
  4. Example of veloctiy related problems:Solving for displacement
  5. Acceleration
  6. Newton's First Law
  7. Newton's Second Law
  8. Newton's Third Law
  9. Concept Clarity: Why distance is area under velocity-time graph
  10. Average velocity for constant acceleration
I recommend you watch all the videos as soon as possible, and in this particular order only.

Books you'll need:Physics

Physics is the only subject out of the three in wich almost zero memorization is required.
To be the best you need to be
  • Faster
  • Smarter
  • Accurate
All of this can only be achieved with crystal clear concepts.
For this,  no amount of misguided help will be effective.
You must base yourself on the following:
  1. Concepts Of Physics  by H.C. Verma: Indian author, more Indian entrance exam oriented (as compared to foreign authors). The questions (solved examples,Objective I,II and Excercises) are a sure shot path to clear concepts.
  2. Fundamentals Of Physics  by Resnick, Halliday, Walker: Will induce a love for physics. The concepts are much easier to grasp compared to other books.
  3. An Objective MCQs Book By Dinesh Or Pradeep publications: Practice makes you perfect.

Welcome :)

First off, welcome to the blog. Here , I will help all of you aspiring to pursue medicine(specifically MBBS) in this great nation of ours.
I will be posting previous year papers, tips, video links, book reviews etc to help you be smarter than everyone you know :)
Knowledge shouldn't be about how much you can remember but how much you can understand.
and if you believe the same, you're come to the right place.
